The 7th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-A-Long!

Here are three of Bubba's babies..the rooster I had to place. The white is from a leghorn hen, and the reds are from a RSL hen. Dad is a RIR..very pretty boy. Wish I could have kept him.
I should have some nice layers by the late spring. I have more in the bator developing..pure RIR's! And more from the RSL hen.

What cutie petooties they are!!! And what lovely colors!! I'm glad that you have chickies from him.

And you are going to town with the others! They should be nice!!! Can't wait to see!

Currently in the middle of a hatch. Set five eggs and five eggs made it to lock down. There was obvious movement from all the eggs at last candling. So far, one chick has already hatched and one more is pipped!!!

today is day 21 so the rest maybe a bit late, but still so eggcited.

I think the little one is ready to get out of the hatcher.

Wow!! I'm gone 48 hours and it takes me forever to catch-up!

I have to give credit to my awesome feed store, Sublette Farmers Elevator in Sublette, IL, for the signs. They are given to me each time I get a bag of Purina chicken feed there. I asked if all the Purina dealers were doing it and I was told they had to sign-up for the promotion. I love the signs and wanted to make them available to the the hatchaholics hatchlovers here on the Easter Hatchalong! Three post numbers have been chosen and when someone post at that time....Bingo (this is a The Old Folks Home

thread reference)...you win a sign. They are 7 inches x 11 inches and metal. You may win whether you are an official hatch participant or just visiting here and enjoying the fun!!
Here is a photo of the three signs, in case you skipped over it!

Thank you, Kelly, Ron, Mike and Sally for keeping this thing on track....the high speed track!!

Congrats! What a precious little thing.

Cuddles now has bubs today. 2-4 more days and the incubator should start hatching

That's a really cute picture!

When I was trying to come up with names for my chicks I looked at their breeds shortened form. Bubs was for Buff Brahma.

He's now one of my main roosters, and a very handsome one at that.

My hatch is officially over. All 17 eggs hatched and now I have 17 beautiful, new BCM babies!

one of these does not belong. One of the poults dove right in and got comfy as I was putting them back in the brooder lol
Awesome hatch! Congrats!

Adorable, congrats! Good luck with the remaining eggs!

Welcome!

I always love hatching my own eggs. I actually have a great-great-grandma, her grand-daughter, her great-grand-daughter and her great-great-grand-daughter all living in the same barn!

That is an amazing picture! I love the different shades.

Thank you! Just glad I got some babies from this rooster I placed. And now, will get some pure RIR's from the next hatch coming up. Hoping for girls, but also hoping for another Bubba..only one with a more quiet crow. I hear that it is possible. Someday, I will have a rooster that I can keep for a while.
