The 7th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-A-Long!

Are the chicks inside still peeping and talking? If they sound lively, they are likely fine. Its when they begin to quiet down that means they are weakening.
If your worried, just pick a bit of the shell away so that the chick is getting more oxygen and so you can see what is happening. If this doesn't help them then you may have to assist the hatch. Be patient, some chicks take a while to hatch compared to others and helping too early can make them bleed (eggs tend to bleed when helped, but the more they bleed the less likely they are to survive the first day).

I hope this helps and I hope they all hatch healthy! :thumbsup

Thank you so much! The 2 eggs that I am worried about have a crack in the shell and I can see their beaks, but they haven't done anything different for the past 15 hours. And they don't talk very often, but when they do it is loud and frantic.

Count me in pls last year I have entered but my name wasent put on the list! I will set 24 eggs and will be all mixed breed, Orpington,European bold necked, and some polish bantam. Thank you

Good morning went to bed at midnight got up at 2 am went back at 3am got up at 340 and stayed up. Could not sleep, so I decided to work on my adult coloring book. I got two pages drawn so not a total loss. Here is what I did while most of the world in my neck of the woods was sleeping.

What do you all do when the sandman goes on strike?
Lovely work. When I can't sleep, I often read. I find if I draw it has the opposite effect and I just stay up all night, but reading tends to help me relax.

Question - is there a setting somewhere to make it put photos/smilies in where the cursor is, not at the top of the page? Most annoying to drag them down, especially with big photos on the screen. Am I missing something?

Good morning y'all.

I have 7 eggs that are pipped in my incubator today! But 2 of them have been like that for about 15 hours. Should I do anything?
MONDAY 5 PM noticed external pip

TUESDAY DAY 20 9AM STILL RESTING,
hole slightly larger but chick is NOT zipping!

2 PM TUES. CHICK IS ALREADY OUT!
missed the last quick zipping!
Silky on the left, two CCL hatched at the same time!

ITS IMORTANT TO NOTE:
THIS CHICK TOOK WELL OVER 24 hours to hatch! and absolutely normal!

As long as you can see em, hear em they should be ok.

Especially if you are sure they are breathing , can see the beak.

They can take over 24 hrs from Pip to Zip.

You will have to use some discretion here
