But in all seriousness, I do actually set all my eggs...lol.

And yes, I have broken down and bought store eggs. (Hey...we was making pizza...who doesn't want pizza??)
I'd "like" to have some girls who aren't being fertilized so I wouldn't be able to set them. Unfortunately I don't.

But I don't like the store bought either...too many porous eggs.

I know too much about eggs now.

Here's my 'bator right now...

2 dozen purchased
2.5 dozen of my eggs

I need more of these...

Well I candled tonight. My light isn't strong enough to see into the Silver Quail or the Sapphires or the Olive Eggers. But I looked at the Orust and the Twentse and the Niederhineres. Some of the Orust looked like they had vestigial veins. But all the rest didn't have anything but a dark shadow floating under the air cell. I will just have to wait a few more days and look again. My incubator has been keeping temps in the zone and the humidity has been between 58 and 61. I am checking the calibration tonight to be sure that the hydrometer is reading right. I set these Thursday and the quail and my own eggs on Wednesday. Since I have always hatched blue or olive or quail eggs before this is the first time that I can really see into the eggs. I was hoping for more by now.

Here's pictures of my chicks
Cream legbar hens are the brown ones
Cream legbar rooster are the yellow ones
And the black ones are silkies.
There's 12 chicks but one cream legbar rooster
Is still drying off,
There's 4 cream legbar Roos and 4 cream legbar hens
I'm not sure about the silkies as they are not auto sexing .

Darling littles! I know they need to make an auto sexing silkie... Perhaps using cuckoo hens, that'd work right?

Sorry to steal your thunder @Junibutt
I just had to add that I just had a little white sport legbar hatch in his hatch! But now I must do research BC I've never heard or seen much about the white sport legbars I know they are recessive and they still lay blue eggs but that's about all I know. As far as the standard are they shunned? I know white German Shepherds are basically considered abominations. Should I not breed whit to white?
