The 7th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-A-Long!

Welp, no eggs today, either.

Called Palmyra PO, gave tracking, they called back saying they talked to the carrier and he said he dropped the box today (even though marked delivered yesterday). Great, was as work so had hubby check front door - yes, there was a box there, no it wasn't the eggs.

Good news, I now have 2 sets of chicken salt and pepper shakers in hand to send out for contests.
Bad news, my box of eggs is still MIA and no one has a clue where it went.

Called them back, gave tracking number again, relayed that the box left today was not the box I am waiting for, they said they'd check into it and call back. No word yet. I'm thinking it's a lost cause, but makes an entertaining story. Somewhere in the world there sits a box of hatching eggs, that's as much as anyone can tell me. Someone marked it delivered to front porch yesterday, so maybe some frozen and now ice covered box is waiting for someone to come home and notice it?

Bah and rassafrassa.

But on the up side, Woo! - I's got da SHAKERS!!!

Oh, man, that is so sad about the eggs. I would definitely file for the insurance. All priority packages are automatically insured for up to $50. Last year, a friend of mine got a return delivery of eggs that she had sent out a YEAR before. Where they were that whole time, no one knew, but only one or two were cracked.

12 hour hatch window for the projects and legbar,

serama are doing nothing,
I think I screwed up by setting them in three days instead of two cause I am dumb and forgetful
probably gonna drown cause of the high humidity. but time will tell!

I FOUND A BIG NO NO in hatching, This was the first time I pulled empty shells out early. first time EVER!
I had a trampled chick and it looks like they pulled his umbilical strings at hatch, he must have bled
and they just had a pecking field day on him after that. Had the shells been in there,
it probably would have given him some space to hatch and dry up because he would have been surrounded
by empty shells and in some "cover" he is actually in this image, I didnt see him until I checked the serama.

early AM all pipped at the same time basically
Congratulations on your hatch. I had not had very good hatch rates until this last one. I did something you had suggested at some time on some thread, which was to lockdown for 2 days instead of 3. I had 20 hatch out of 22! Over 90%! I think I had been drowning them by increasing the humidity too early. Thanks for sharing all the tips!
