Wow...nice!!

Anyone else having some freezing frigid cold temps this weekend. Starting tonight and into Sunday we are expecting with windchill, -30 to -40 temps. Not the best night to do it but tonight it is time to finally do a little rearranging and get my tree roosting pullets into a new coop. They will finally join their Cockerel. And his brother will finally be moved to a new in a coop of his own with some females.

It was -31 C last night, not quite as cold as you...but still not nice. The wind got up at 11pm.

Right now it's -28 with 98% humidity.

So far those that have straight combs have lost a point of two. I did try the Vaseline thing. Nothing like being out in the coop at 3am Vaselining rooster combs...

(I had been away that day)

I now have two forced air heaters to take the humidity out...and keep it a bit warmer. The coop will still get down past -20 and then the thermometer won't register when it's really cold. I'm breeding for the pea/cushion/walnut type of comb. It'll take a while though.

I like Mr. Red's comb better...more fashionable. But the white guys comb is "probably" more functional. It's like someone took a big glob of red silicone and dropped it on his face.

The pullets from that farm have somewhat the same...just prettier. It cracks me up!! What a look! I like the straight combs myself...but the types I have now are growing on me.

Isn't that the truth!!!!

I saw some turkeys on one of our trips last week.

I LOVE turkeys!

We usually had a few turkeys too when I was growing up.
This town has a lot of different birds...but I hadn't seen the turkeys. I usually see the pea fowl.

I managed to calm myself down and talk myself out of it...

Everyone's discussion about turkeys helped too...so thank you!
