The 7th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-A-Long!

you could cut out egg cups from a carton and dont turn the turner on for the first day or so, it all depends on air cells.  You need to have them upright if air cells are screwy.

Anyone else have this mini brinsea, suggestions?
oh NO!!!! I am so sorry!!! :hugs   not again! OMGGGGGGGGGG
I am so sad!! brahma!! and all the sweet breeds you have!! oh no!!!  what did the neighbors say?  they owe you for them you know that!

They are going to pay for replacement eggs. It's just heartbreaking because I was attached to those babies and now I have to start all over :( I'm trying not to be angry with them for being irresponsible with their dogs but it's hard.

Hello Everyone!

We are back to hatch at our Assisted Living Senior Living! This year we have moved to the Cottages which is a Assisted Living and Memory Care, in northeast Wisconsin. We will be setting 24 eggs total at two different locations with 85 Seniors enjoying the experience. My name is Phil, and you may know me as "Ridgeline Hens" So Glad to be apart of the bigger picture!

I am so happy to see you guys back. You brought tears to my eyes last year. It was great to see the joy those chicks brought your residents!

My incubator should arrive between the 4 and 9 of march:fl when should I order my eggs?

I'd order now or in the next couple of days. Try to get a tracking number so you can find out (as closely as possible) what day the incubator will arrive. I'd time it so you eggs are there about the same day. 1 day to run the incubator and get the temperature adjusted and for the eggs to settle, so arriving at the same time I think would be good

Oh, you just gave me an idea...I wonder if the assisted living center across the street from me would be willing to egg/chick-sit while I was on Spring break. I'll have to talk to them about it.

Getting more EE eggs from a gal that I have bought from before. Her EE's are darling. Here is a photo of one of them..I just had to get more eggs. I shared a lot of the ones that hatched last yr.

Plus I'm getting some Silkie eggs from a close by town..no shipping! Yaay, first time I've bought from him. Will get those and set those on the 5th.

Oh, this would be great too. I used to work for an Assisted Home Living yrs. ago. I love old folks..now I am one.

Not quite that old yet, but it seems that I'm getting there fast!!
They would love something like this. If I had been doing chicks back then, I would have done this for them. I can just see some of them now, just loving it!

My mainstays are 2 Brinsea Octogon 20 Advanced and a backup eco 20 for when I get over zealous. I'm scared of what might happen with a cabinet incubator. @KYTinpusher I would get myself in big trouble with a cooler like you are working on. I have little to no self control about peeps.

@StarMeKritten What a beautiful little incubator! So it holds 5 dozen, that's 60 eggs. If 90% hatch that would be 54 chicks every 21 days. If you only hatched once a month, you could have 648 chicks/year!!!!

and that's why I can't have a cabinet. It looks very, very tempting though.

OMG I just had a startling math realization!

As I was cleaning incubators...

24 X 3 = 72 (3 incubators that hold 24 eggs each)

That's more than 5 dozen. No wonder I am over run with chicks. I don't have a cabinet, so it doesn't look like as much spreading it out.

Turkeys didn't cooperate again this year.

But have up to 2 dozen welsummer eggs that should be here by fri.

So I will be able to set eggs.
