The 8th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!!!!

I actually tried to get Isabel Orp eggs for the hatch, but that didn't work out. I won't be getting them until April 10th but that's better than not at all!

Seeing all y'all's chicks makes me so happy! I have a backyard mix and porcelain d'uccles hatching tomorrow. We just hit day 19 and it's my first hatch ever!!!!!

Do yourself a favor and invest in an incubator that's the total package! Fan, turner, hygrometer. I got the Brinsea Mini Advance and I wish I had upgraded to the Mini II or whatever it is that measures humidity. Read every review you can find of whatever bator you're considering! Seriously, one chick flailing around in this Brinsea made me realize how small it is. If I ever put in the max amount of eggs (7) and had a 100% hatch rate, hatch day would be B A N A N A S!

I got the mini advanced. Did you ever adjust the temperature or humidity? Or was it factory ready?

I'm officially in!!

I have eggs coming next week and will get the incubator out this weekend and get it ready. I hope I have some broodies before hatch day gets here.

Right now, I have one pullet that has been sitting for a week. A friend is bringing some of her Welsummer eggs over to give her. Too early for the hatchalong but I didn't want to try and break her. I hope she can hatch some replacements for my friend...none of her Welsummers went broody last year so she need some replacements badly.

Well then!

I HAVE A CHICK!!! They were not supposed to hatch till Sat, I just put them in lock down Wed, yesterday, crazy, they are bantams and I know they can be early but wow that is EARLY, oh so tiny and cute,

I kept hearing chirping and thought it was the TV and finally really focused and no birds on the tv so I went and looked,!!!

Me too!! Day 20. Plus, I can hear another chirping. I didn't see a pip on this one that hatched,..nor heard a peep coming from that egg. Woke up to the chirping they make while they are zipping. That little stink was almost out! It's a blue bantam cochin. Funny, I just hatched all blues from another breeder..this actually may be a splash, seeing a yellow tint around the neck. Will know better when dry.

Congratulations on your early bird!
