The 8th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!!!!

I haven't hatched seramas either but after the dream I had last night about my Easter chicks hatching early whilst still turning, early hatchers are on my mind
They should be fine, I can't say I've ever had problems when the incubator has been packed with eggs. Have you got your humidity high? At least 65% if not more?

Fingers crossed you have some hatch very soon :fl

No it's at 51% and 100.8 degrees when I try and add water the heat just spikes! What would recommend?

I just added three wet paper towels to the incubator and poured in some warm water. Hopefully that increase the humidity!

aren't you in Ohio?

I just hatched in my Incuview with no water and I'm in southern Ohio. This incubator is new to me and I'm still figuring out the quirks

No were in Utah! :highfive:

And right now we have two incubators.

This one is the Old Hovabator that came with our quail that we bought from a Nieghbor. He got it from the DI aka a Charity Shop and apparently before that it came from an Elementary school so it's got lots of history and lots of problem and is literally taped together. No lie! It's held together by scotch tape! It swings in temp from 78-104 degrees and has trouble holding humidity too. But I think we might have figured it out enough to work. We put 104 Japanese Quail aka Coturnix Quail in it as a Tester Run and will just have to wait and see what happens. They are trying to hatch today!

This would be our first hatching and we don't know what we're doing here so we greatly appreciate all the ideas and help we've been getting here!!! THANK YOU! :bow

This is our other incubator, the new Incuview.

It has all of our BYC-EHAL Eggs in it! :jumpy
@BantyChooks
We originally filled it with 27 Welsh Harlequin Duck Eggs but only 13 were viable. :hit
Not sure if those count in the EHAL totals since they were found to be blanks.

So we pulled them out last night and added 35 Coturnix Quail Eggs to the incubator in their stead.

So currently our eggs set for EHAL are
-13 Welsh Harlequin Duck Eggs &
-35 Coturnix Quail Eggs

*Making The BYC-EHAL at The Glaseria Residence a Grand Total of 48 Eggs!!! :yesss:

We hope all your hatchings go well!

I cabdeled the eggs today since it's only day 5 for me it's still a little early I'll check again on Thursday to see how they are. 14 of my 17 shipped eggs seem to be doing really good hope the rest make it and all the ones from my flock are doing good 2 I'll cancel all 85 on Thursday night.

Last year I had a broody red sexlink.

I had a broody production red girl last year lol. She's turned out to be a great mama!

I have some Seramas in my batch I was planning on locking down tomorrow - day 19.  Should I lock them down today?  Oops.....

I did the same thing lol. I didn't know any different!

Just found out this is going on. Still not totally sure what the hatch-a-long is :p, but I set 13 barnyard mix chicken eggs on the 20th of March at 9pm CST.

(Day 7 candle last night and I pulled a blood ring so I have 12 set now...do I update things like that? I'm off to read more about what a hatch-a-long is so I don't repeat a bunch of questions...)

If it's too late to "join," that's ok :D
