The 8th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!!!!

Beautiful! That is one awesome egg! Very envious here. :love I bought eggs and one was purplish. It didn't hatch.:( Someone mentioned Croad Langshan chickens and their eggs on another thread. Those are beautiful eggs as well! Dark brown with a plum bloom. I've given myself permission to only bring in hatching eggs, no chicks at all. I got weak last week with SLW chicks...but the person had sold them :yesss: so I'm inquiring about hatching eggs. :gig I don't answer to anyone on this...but if I didn't have some type of fail safe...I'd have 10,000 chickens.
Wow those are gorgeous eggs! They look just like plums ready to eat!

Update: Two and a half week old quail are almost completely covered in feathers! Love that heat plate!!!! :love The EHAL quail eggs have been in the hatcher we are just waiting to see how many pop out. :pop I've heard once your first egg hatched you start a clock of three days and don't open it at all till the 3 days are up so you don't loose humidity and shrink wrap your potentials. Is this true?

The EHAL duckling eggs are still in the Incuview with out the turner tray and are waiting for Friday! In fact when I took it out last night one of the eggs rocked hard all on its own so there's at least one strong contender in the batch! Might even be early! :thumbsup

First time hatching eggs!!! I had 17 to start and 7 made it to lock down. 4 Silkies out of 14 shipped eggs and 3 EE's from a friend. So far 2 silkies have hatched and a 3rd one is almost out. 1 of the EE's has a pip. This is so fun and nerve wracking at the same time!!

Congrats! The excitement never gets old!

OMG mine are hatching and I wasn't ready! I expected them Saturday afternoon, I didn't even have them in lock down yet. I was sitting here doing my taxes and figured I'd get them in lock down as soon as I was done, when I heard a peep! I rushed over, yanked out the turner and added in some water and closed em back up. So far I have one royal palm turkey out, with ducks and turkeys both pipped and one turkey zipping! Come on duckies and turkeys!
I confess, my brooder isn't ready either. BUT, I had an early temp spike on my Barnevelder eggs, so I wasn't sure any would make it. See, even experienced hatchers can have issues..... our outside temps have been changing so dramatically, that I couldn't keep the darn thing stable. I have 7 barnevelders in lockdown, though I think one for sure is a quitter. I'd REALLY like to start hearing cheeping, just so I know they are okay!!!!!

I have more Barnevelder eggs coming after Easter and they are going in the Brinsea!!!
Quote: That is because they ARE plums, not eggs. Shame on Ron for trying to tease us all.
