The 8th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!!!!

Then you possibly want the large as it states that it can handle 50 chicks. I'll be honest, we bought a small and a large to cover our bases and have yet to even open the large yet. We are using the small to heat our quail babies right now. We purchased directly from there web site and now I know why everyone wants more the $100 of their product. There Shipping is ridiculously priced in my opinion! However if you purchase more the $100 your eligible for free ground shipping which was fast but the box did arrive beat up. Thank goodness they had strings in the packing tape to keep the box together! I believe the large was $79 and the small just around $50 I hope this helps! :thumbsup

That was very helpful, thank you! Looks like I need to place a Premier 1 order.....I've been considering getting a 50' poultry net for the new pen I just bought and want more run space.

Ohhh that makes sense, sorry my post was so long amd rambly and if it seemed like i was defensive or anything, I wasn't at all lol but ya

But oh wow, I can see how those dogs would be annoying!

I hate dogs with yappy or high pitched or just ugly barks LOL

I mean, I love all dogs but wouldn't live with those lol

One timethere was a dog barking and our dog got into a barking war and my mom was like God what is that? Our dog sounds like Elvis compared to that dog

I would love audio or maybe a picture?

I thought dobermans had deep barks but maybe not.

Could they be hounds or at least hound mixes? I thought only hounds did that baying but I might be ignorant lol

How big are they?

If you can get a picture of them, I might be able to tell the breed, I'm pretty good at that stuff.
Oh gosh, I hate people like that and the ones who just leave them outside 24/7, why even have a dog? Are these at least fed and vetted?

I was busy tonight when the Hell Beasts began their 10 pm shriek, but hopefully I can get some video tomorrow. I got a peek at them yesterday. They still remind me of Dobermans because they are black, lean, and very sleek looking. They have floppy ears though. They could easily be mutts, I mean, a "designer" breed.

Ok, I did a bunch of Googling pics and I think they are either black labs or black lab mixes. I have a black lab, but he's an English black lab so he's very different looking than an American black lab. Or I'm dumb.

Yes please!

Update: Sorry for the delay on the update but my healths been crazy and this being our first hatching, well it's been crazy!

Over the course of three days we had a total of 49 quail eggs hatch though one of our babies died with the first few hours.

We bought a heat plate to replace the lights since I'm always afraid they will fall, burn chicks, catch something on fire or explode! Not to mention my electricity bill! I have to say the heat plate from Premier1 is AWESOME!!!

Our quailing? I think that's the right terminology. Yes, our quailing are feathering out, jumping around, testing their wings and most importantly quiet!

I candled last night and good thing I did! Since I probably overstuffed my Incuview with quail eggs they weren't turning like they should in the top corners, so I moved the fertile eggs more in the middle and shoved what I think are blanks into the corners.

Also when I was candling the EHAL quail eggs I thought I might as well check in on the EHAL Duck Eggs which are in the same incubator and oh my they are so CUTE! They responded to my voice telling them they are so cute and calling "Here Duckie, duckie, duckies!!!" What an amazing feeling!!!! Its like watching a sonicgram of a baby but in egg form!!!!!!

Congrats on the quail! Glad they are doing good! Sorry about the one you lost.

I have 2 large and 1 small of the Premier heat plates. The covers MORE than make up for the extra cost. But, sometimes, I use press and seal on the top of the heat plate so that the chicks can jump on top - if they need more room. The press and seal keeps it clean. You have to change the press and seal every time you change the bedding - but it works great.

Hi All.
Worried about small air sacs and air sacs that are off centre only just taking in the tip of the egg, they are laid on side in incubator, humidity about 35%???????

Ya 49 hatch out of 104 with only 48 surviving after hatch not too bad for an old charity case incubator and it being our first hatch ever! I had only hoped for maybe 1 baby so this many does the heart good! :love

My service dog Bella loves being their surrogate Mommy! She will guard them all day long, when she's not checking in on me of course and she let's me know when they need something too! Bonus!!!

I didn't get the covers. I didn't have the funds. Plus I though they like to go up there and dive off or now some of them even sleep up there! I don't have the press and seal stuff yet either unfortunately. Do the covers make the bottom produce more heat or just keep the top clean?

I kinda set more eggs over the last week and a half. Lol  So, my current total set is 71 eggs between two incubators. Some are hatching now. Some are due Easter weekend. And the rest are due a few days after Easter.

There are 1 dozen turkey eggs on their way, but they won't hatch until May some time.

Just keeps it clean. I let the poop dry and it scrapes off easily. Then I can clean it with a washcloth of soapy water.

You could use seran wrap around the legs to stop them from getting up on top or even some aluminum foil and tape

Nahhh you're not dumb! A lot of the Lab mixes don't really look much like Labs haha if they're that big though I'd say they're probably mixes.
