The 8th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!!!!

It kind of made me feel bad... there was no mama hen waiting for her after she hatched out. No siblings either!

I did get her some friends quickly though!

I don't answer to anyone on this...but if I didn't have some type of fail safe...I'd have 10,000 chickens.

Those are beautiful eggs as well! Dark brown with a plum bloom. I've given myself permission to only bring in hatching eggs, no chicks at all. I am addicted period I told myself I didn't need more chockens in January I had over 40 except one or two Dutch hens and a Dutch Roo but that was it after my loss well no Dutch hens now a Dutch roo, but two new Roos ands about 14 chicks half grown and 44 eggs in my cooker. Also said I wouldn't have an incubator so when I got one it will hold only 96 eggs!! I have 10 Dutch/cochin bantams also and still thinking about one more hatch this year it's still early in the season! Oh LOOK!!! CHICKS!!!! Want one or 20 lol

LOL.....yes, we start off small, but they chicken math kicks in and we are gonners. I said I was going to stop hatching, but then an auction came up, and i want them, so then I look on ebay and I find some Tolbunt Polish and Blue Wyandotte and Russian Orloff and, and, and......

Last year I went into a store to "look" decided on 6 chicks and left the store with 10

then I seen all the diy incubator videos. Went from 7 chickens outside, and hatched 4 chicks. Then my mom bought 6 chicks and added to my brooder. Also there are 14 eggs in the incubator due Saturday

. I keep telling myself that I'm going to sell some of these chicks. Incubating is addicting.

I just finished my candling I lost 2RIR 3Dominiques, and one EE all shipped so they are doing great saw movement inside. So all are doing great!! My own eggs didn't fair that well I lost 6 of my own eggs I'm down to 10 now on home layed eggs and still at 23 on shipped eggs if all hatch I'll be happy better rate this time I'm crossing my fingers!!

Ain't that the truth. Every time I pare down my spring chick list it grows instead. Better stop messing with it and just buy the chicks.
