Oh no!!
We had that too. Lavender Orps were a no (bought 6 and eggtopsy showed quite certain not fertile) same breeder for the 5 infertile chocolate orps.

Oh no I'm so sorry. Our fertility issues at least we're with our own quail and I fully expected them. We've had fertility issues with one seller we bought eggs from off eBay but we've only done it a few times.

Orpingtons can have fertility issues though because of their big fluffy butts.

I have Barnevelders. They are a wonderful breed.

Are they blue double laced barnvelders? ;) *Drooling*

Congrats on all the new fluff! I'm trying to wait patiently on our first hatch with the 3 survivors. We've lost so many thus far its hard to stay positive. Does it get easier with each hatch or is it always so stressful?!?!

Well I think it depends. I'm a spazz lol so tend to be worked up and excited.

Mostly I think it depends on if you have a good calibrated and dependable incubator. It does get some easier I think, just a bit. LoL

I think it also depends on if they're eggs you payed money for or your own, at least for me.

Good luck and don't give up. :)

Put our two quail eggs in lockdown.

Yep that's right only two made it. The last eggs in the incubator all looked clear except for two that I'm guessing we're extremely early quiters. They didn't even have visible blood when I cracked them open.

So here's to our two little nuggets and to the trip I'll be making to the guy I know who breeds quail. I can't have just two in the brooder.

I hope they hatch.

Here is what I got so far from my dozen. 3 were duds and didn't grow at all. Late night there was 1pip and this morning 2 more piped so there were 3 pips in total. Then I took a shower came back and 2 chicks hatched! 1 chick is a silver laced sebright mix and the other chick is a bantam Brahma mix. I also found a technique for quieting chicks. I "purr" to them and they calm down.:yesss::celebrate
I PURR TO MINE TOO! <3 I looked up videos of mama hens purring to their peeping eggs and chicks, and mimic the sounds to encourage mine. Also I play the video for the eggs now that they're rocking! :love
