    Welcome to the 9th Annual BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

    It's that time again! Every year, hundreds of members come together to set eggs to hatch on the exact same day - the day BEFORE Easter. As a group last year, we had 7,491 eggs set for hatching! If you are new to hatching, this is a great way to get a lot of help, tips and advise. Join in the fun for the largest BYC Hatch-a-long of the year!



    Set Chicken eggs on Saturday, March 10th at Noon (whatever time zone you are in)

    Other poultry breed setting dates listed below...

    We want to hatch on March 31st, (the day BEFORE Easter Sunday)
    button quail: 16 days to hatch; set March 15th
    coturnix quail: 18 days to hatch; set March 13th
    seramas: 19 days to hatch; set March 12th
    other bantam and LF chicken: 21 days to hatch; set March 10th
    bobwhite quail: 23 days to hatch; set March 8th
    call duck and other bantam ducks: 26 days to hatch; set March 5th
    pheasant: 22 to 29 days; set March 2nd - March 9th
    mallard (derived) duck,goose, turkey, guinea, peafowl: 28 days to hatch; set March 3rd
    goose: 28 to 32 days to hatch; set February 27th - March 3rd
    muscovy duck: 35 days to hatch; set February 24th
    emu: approx. 53 days to hatch - set Feb 6th (for you "serious" hatchers)




    TO JOIN the hatchalong simply post in this thread that you wish to enter and we will add you! Set dates for each type of domestic fowl are listed above.
    This thread is our main chat thread for the hatchalong where you can find anything from new friends, awesome incubation help to the most detailed educational discussions possible and how could we forget the laughter and fun!
    This post of the Hatchalong (1st post) will be updated as we move along with all the important information you will need.
    But if you find yourself with a question just post it on the thread, everyone is helpful!

    If you end up not setting any eggs, please let us know! It makes it easier for our record keeping and we don't have to try to track you down!

    I was late in getting this thread started, I didn't realize Easter is so early this year! So we missed the window for Emu hatchers. If you are going to set Emu eggs, do so by Tuesday the 13th and we will still count your eggs!

    I too didn’t realise Easter was early this year!
    Was hoping to hatch some goslings for this years Hatch a Long but I don’t think they will start laying in time :(

    Good excuse though to set a small batch of chicken eggs! :D

    I really wish I could join! I am going on vacation for a week at Easter, so i cant hatch. There is always next year though! good luck with y'alls hatches and ill be following your progress. :thumbsup

    I will have to order too or see if any friends have a few for me to set. At least if I get them from friends I can collect rather than getting them through the post.
