I hope you get some to hatch soonStill on the nest, I have a few pips...... impatiently waiting.![]()
I have a little female Cream legbar almost the same. She can stand but not well and not for long. Azygous suggested the Vit E to me also.I had a late one today that has no use of it's legs. Wet noodles. I'm pumping vitamin E, electrolytes and nutri dench cupped in the palm of my hand. It is slurping it. If it doesn't improve in a couple of days..That's not quality of life. Yes it was assisted. All the fluid was absorbed, but it didn't have enough strength to finish the unzip. I hate culling chicks.
But there is no such thing as a perfect world. When you play God by artificially bringing life into this world, there are consequences sometimes.
I believe the reason was is because the egg was from a young hen. One of her first eggs. We are impatient to start selling Blue Austies because they are not common in our geographical location. We only started raising that particular breed late last year. 6.5 mons maybe?
Poor little dude. There is another batch due in 4 days or so. I hope those blues don't repeat this birth defect.
You aren't the only oneCongratulations to everyone with chickies and everyone still waiting on babies. I hope I'm not the only one left.
Humidity seems to have stablized today so that's good.
I can't wait to start some more eggs so I hope this little hatches ASAP.
Sorry for everyone that has lost eggs or chicks I know how hard it can be.
Cute!My final count is 16. 11 OE and 5 silkies. Hard to see everyone but they are in the clean out tub. View attachment 1321883View attachment 1321884
If I get a cracked egg in shipped eggs, I always open it up and check to see if it's fertile. Get excited about the rest of it is.All eggs are completely clear until about three days of incubation.
You can tell if you crack them open to see if there was a bullseye though.
Poor packing and shipping stress can kill the embryo before it develops.
I suspect though that the eggs you were sent were not fertile. that happens often with ebay
Dog on those up side downers! I've had three this spring.Brahma hatched, two Easter Eggers working on being hatched. One upside down......
Assisting, usually takes the chick couple of days to .. wake up..from not being the one to hatch itself all the way. One caution. Don't give it full strength electrolytes, and only give it a tiny drop, 4 X's a day. Poly V. Just a tiny drop, I just drip a drop from my finger..a couple of times a day. Good luck with your baby!I had a late one today that has no use of it's legs. Wet noodles. I'm pumping vitamin E, electrolytes and nutri dench cupped in the palm of my hand. It is slurping it.
