Final count from The Cottages. We had a large number of eggs that were unfertilized this year of the 67 to start only 41 made it to lockdown. and of those 28 hatched.
But much Fun was had! This Young lady is 100 years old. and shared many stories of having chicks when she was a young girl. View attachment 1327106

Final count....26 went into lockdown and have 19 healthy chicks

1 Jubilee Orpington hatched safely! WOOT!
Sadly, the other one didn't make it. The dead one pipped low but somehow only broke shell away and didn't penetrate the membrane? The poor thing drowned and it's my fault. I fell asleep and was not there to intervene. The surviving singleton is calling and calling and it is so sad. She's with the Coronation Sussex chicks so she's not alone...but her 'peep language' is definitely different and it's heartbreaking. In the end, I am celebrating the survivor and praying the fate of her sibling does not repeat.
