The 9th Annual BYC Easter Hatchalong!

In the case that I miss tracked the date, and she has been sitting longer but I still wanna take my chances of her not sitting on the extras after a few days, could I use the heat lamp to keep the extra eggs warm enough to continue their last days?Or maybe I could just bring Water and feed to the mother so that way her an chicks can stay in the exact area and she can continue to sit without having to move or get up.I may take the first hatched chicks away that way she will still maybe be determined?Im not even one hundred percent sure they will hatch, have two roosters but I could also have grabbed six unlucky eggs, lol,I don’t it though,I should get at the most one or two,my two breed all day,and very roughly.I also haven’t decided yet wether or not I should care for the chicks or let her but will worry about that later on down the line.
Go for it! 3 days apart isn't bad. Often the slower eggies will catch up, and mom will sit a few days after the first peeper to hatch to give the rest time. I wouldn't put them together more than a few days apart though.

The Broodie usually stops sitting on the eggs soon after the chicks are out. There is a hormone switch.

Can you borrow an incubator? 4-H will often let you use one

I agree with Ron, and once she's out and about with those chicks she isn't going to want to stay in one area. Plus if you are not sure the other eggs are fertile, you don't want to take the chance of taking away her babies, and then her possibly not wanting to go back to them.

They certainly do Cynthia! These quail are coming on good now, faster than I can remember with my last lot that I did! We have nice weather forecast from Monday so hoping to get them outside :fl They are a little bigger from this pic as this was taken last week.
