The 9th Annual BYC Easter Hatchalong!

I think I have 4 total pips out of 19 eggs, i'm not positive though. Here is 2 that piped right under the plastic window.

The top duck egg has a pip but it is hard to see with all that dirt on there. My duck eggs were huge butts this year and they had been laying an egg daily throughout the winter and then a week before the duck set date I decided to start collecting, ducks decided to stop laying... I got a total of 3 somewhat dirty duck eggs and 1 ended up being a dud :he The chickens did great though, most of them have started to chirp. And a few started to pip, like the leghorn egg above the duck egg.

I saw someone above asking about dewaxing a cracked egg. I have one too, and hadn't heard anything about dewaxing. Is this something i should do?

I wouldn't worry about dewaxing unless you're concerned that it can't pip through it. When I have cracked eggs, I typically use clear nail polish to seal the crack. I've had quite a few hatch on their own and there's no removing the nail polish lol

Here is what I got so far from my dozen. 3 were duds and didn't grow at all. Late night there was 1pip and this morning 2 more piped so there were 3 pips in total. Then I took a shower came back and 2 chicks hatched! 1 chick is a silver laced sebright mix and the other chick is a bantam Brahma mix. I also found a technique for quieting chicks. I "purr" to them and they calm down.:yesss::celebrate
