The 9th Annual BYC Easter Hatchalong!

I wouldn't worry about dewaxing unless you're concerned that it can't pip through it. When I have cracked eggs, I typically use clear nail polish to seal the crack. I've had quite a few hatch on their own and there's no removing the nail polish lol

I got scared and quickly removed the wax. It is on the air cell part, so I was concerned it wouldn't be able to pip. Lol, maybe I didn't need to. ..

Here is what I got so far from my dozen. 3 were duds and didn't grow at all. Late night there was 1pip and this morning 2 more piped so there were 3 pips in total. Then I took a shower came back and 2 chicks hatched! 1 chick is a silver laced sebright mix and the other chick is a bantam Brahma mix. I also found a technique for quieting chicks. I "purr" to them and they calm down.:yesss::celebrate
They were sneaky!

Hatching our while in the shower

Day 20: Mottled/Mille Sizzle hatched first! I have a number of other pips. Serama pipped first but not out yet...

So cute. Look at its pterodactyl bump.

It's my Saturday so right on schedule I woke up to 7 little Button babies raising the roof. They are much happier in the brooder. The other 4 eggs are tapping away so they should make an appearance later today or tomorrow.
