The 9th Annual BYC Easter Hatchalong!

They look so comfy all snuggled on the fluffy stuff! Adorable!

They do like a fluffy cloth and they'll sleep underneath it too which is good for strengthening their little legs as they push up into it.

Your little one is so cute there - I can't wait to see her fluffed up too! And I'm looking forward to seeing your Serama (we don't have them here and I love teeny birds and bantam chickens).

It’s zipping! I only got them out of the rails and locked down about an hour ago! :th

Aww are those the James Marie quail?
What ones did you get?

Coming up on lockdown and about to discover if I can get wonky eggs to hatch! On the opposite end I can see veining and movement. Going in with 13, sounds like a lucky number to me!

Beautiful eggs! Good luck!

I put 18 eggs in lockdown early this morning.I'm not sure about 4 of them but put them in anyways.3 of of those 4 are very dark color eggs making it hard to see inside but they didn't look fully developed. The 4th egg had a accident and was cracked pretty bad.A egg slipped out of my hand but I was able to catch it with other hand.Only problem was the hand I caught it with was already holding a egg. When falling egg hit egg in my hand it smashed it pretty good..
There is good news cracked egg is still wiggling around so chick isn't dead.If it can survive till tomorrow(day20) it will most likely survive.View attachment 1314697

Oh wow so scary. Good luck I hope it hatches also nice catch saving the other one.

Some of my early birds.

NN...no bow tie. Nn..bow tie. I love the bow ties!

I didn't know there was a difference. Cool thank you for sharing!

It's my Saturday so right on schedule I woke up to 7 little Button babies raising the roof. They are much happier in the brooder. The other 4 eggs are tapping away so they should make an appearance later today or tomorrow.

Aww! I'm so jealous! I've been considering getting a few buttons for a while now as pets. I'd love to talk to you about owning and raising them etc.

Of course I'm still getting DH2B to agree to it. If I do get some I would like them to be able to give me the greatest color array as possible.

Double Blue Laced Barnevelder hatched about 10 minutes ago! Lots of pipping... the Serama is making headway, and another Mottled Sizzle just started zipping. I have pips from Cuckoo and Paint Sizzles, my BCM that had cracks I had to wax, and... super

exciting for me -- a Chocolate Orpington has also pipped!

@chickendreams24

The lady I got then from said they were Harlequin (smaller eggs) and Japanese (bigger eggs) of various colours?

Oh cool! Who was it then that had the Jqmes Marie quail eggs... We've been thinking about ordering some from them that's why I asked.

Now I believe Japanese quail are coturnix quail but I'm not familiar with harlequin.

So far we have Pharoah and Texas A&M coturnix quail(although we had some bad luck with our Pharoahs and I will be adding more because of that.)
We get blue and even green eggs from time to time(although she may have been the one we just lost because it's been a while since I got one of those eggs) without the spots and that's something I think would be cool to breed for along with size and such.

Where did you get your blue double laced barnvelders? Those are one my want list LoL
We've got some chocolate English Orpingtons they're great birds. I really love all of our English Orpington color varieties.

In other news the mink attack 3-4 days ago broke up my broody silkies which sucks but that's okay. However my mauve English Orpington mix pullet (not sure what she's mixed with looks pure Orpington but for her comb-possibly EE) anyway at hatch I thought she was pure. But she has since gone broody and maybe was before the attack. My worry is she never gets up and is losing weight, fast!

We've had broodies before but not one that never gets up to eat drink or relieve herself. The first two days I just assumed I was catching her laying bc she's always complained when disturbed. Unfortunately if she sticks she will hatch too late for the broodies and chick pictures contest. Too bad because we've stuck a bunch of blue and green EE and legbar eggs under her. Plus being maybe she's stunning!

Set Chicken eggs on Saturday, March 10th at Noon (whatever time zone you are in)
That's what I did! Right on the money.
