Every time I lose a pet, I feel like a piece of my heart is gone (I just lost one of my cats, a 20 pound teddy bear of a cat). But then I think about the unconditional love we receive from these animals, and how they enlarge our hearts because of that. Then I know that my heart is large enough to withstand the loss and even to give more love to the remaining pets and any others that come into my life. I can tell you are a large-hearted person because of the love for your animals that shines through in your Barbara stories. My condolences to you and Mr. ChickenDad for your loss.
