Eggs

The weather had turned warmer and Barbara spent time in the pen with Leroy looking for goodies. The Silly Ameraucana sisters were off on holiday, so she concentrated on her egg laying without any bother from them. The new nest box was working out well even without curtains. Barbara’s eggs were consistently beautiful and she was quite proud of herself.

Over in the Little Girls Coop, the nest boxes were very busy. Scooter the little white rooster and his seven Little Girls, including one curly redhead, were enjoying having the whole coop to themselves. The Little Girls were laying like crazy since they weren’t being distracted by too many boyfriends.

All except one Little Girl laid about two eggs every three days. The Little Girl would pop in and out of the nest box. She didn’t quite know what to do, but she knew she was supposed to do it in the box. Yesterday, she finally figured it out and produced her first egg! The Food Man found it and brought it in to show the Food Lady. They put it next to Barbara’s lovely egg and took a picture: (no photoshop either, it's the real deal!)

Wow that is the tiniest egg I have ever see!! I have little girls and they have never layed anything that little. Great stories! Thanks again. Hope you have a speedy recovery!

That egg is about the size of a Milk-dud. It has a thick, hard shell and probably no yolk. It was the tiniest one we have ever had. I put it on top of the penny and it doesn't cover the penny. She probably hiccuped it out!

I loved your description of Little Girl going in and out of the nest box not knowing what to do....but knowing she was supposed to do it in the box!! So funny; you can just imagine her thinking, "Now what is so interesting about THIS place? Why is everyone else in here all the time? Are there treats under the shavings?"
