I was so hoping to join the group of people owned by Barbara's and even started calling the barred rock, Barbara, but my son informed me that he heard Barbara crow. So I guess he is now Bob. Phooey!

I love the shirt Idea, and love reading about Barbra's antics every week. Have to admit I have a few Barbra's in my flock as well.

Just a thought the shirts would also look good on a plain grass green shirt, or even a royal blue, the white would stand out on them as well, and even could use
some black markings too if you wanted. If you're like me living in 100 degree heat, black isnt always my first choice, just plain o too hot. But I still love the shirts and would love to have one however they come out, the design is just too cute to not have one.

Wow! I didn't realize so many people would be interested in Barbara stuff! I have the project in the works, should have them ready to go in about 2 weeks, maybe sooner. I kind of have to do them in black because the negative space in the design is what makes the black and white bars work. A green shirt would make her a green and white BR! Then too, black is a formal color, so you could wear the black tee to your formal chicken affairs. . . .

I used the photo of Barbara on the fence from one of the early stories. I wanted it to look more like a drawing than a photo, so my graphic arts background came in handy. I used Photoshop and Freehand to create the artwork on my Mac.

I will have a pretty good idea of pricing in the next day or so when I get the quote back. Paypal will probably be the easiest way to order/pay.

New Babies and Chinese Food

Little Cecily and her babies (she miraculously has two more, courtesy of the Hovabator, although she thinks it was immaculate conception) have settled into the new Broody House and made it home. During the day, Cecily takes her babies out in the yard to learn about grass and bugs and such, or if there is no supervision she goes into the extra cochin pen, which is as big as Disney World to a baby bantam. Cecily is a very good mama to her babies and talks to them constantly. Here is a picture of the bargain Broody House and one of Cecily and her chicken child:

Barbara and Leroy spent most of the day lolling under the pine tree in the dirt spa where it was shady and cool. The weather had suddenly turned hot and humid, so everyone found a cool spot to stretch out in. The roosters were penned up, so Leroy had complete charge of the girls outside. Mrs. Chickendad looked out the window and saw Leroy trotting over to make sure Walter wasn’t out. The next time she saw him, Leroy was trotting over to where Buff Daddy was locked up with his broody girlfriend. Pretty soon, Leroy ran over to make sure the bantam rock roo was in lockdown.

Leroy was not getting much rest because he had to check on the other roosters constantly. He even went into the Honeymoon Hotel (the door was left open to help keep the inmates cool) and strutted up and down in front of Bob the Ameraucana. Bob has been separated from his wife Marian because he was such an enthusiastic honeymooner that Marian was getting a shopworn look about her. Mrs. Chickendad noticed that Leroy’s foot feathers are getting ratty looking from all of his trotting around.

Barbara did not accompany Leroy on his rounds. The Pine Tree spa was just too comfy. It was near the kitchen door, so when someone came out there was a good chance of treats. Mrs. Chickendad gave the girls a treat of last night’s sweet and sour chicken with rice. Barbara was at the front of the line. She had never had Chinese food before, but she did appreciate that a girl should expand her horizons and embrace other cultures, especially if it involved food.

update Leroy would be very proud of his love child today while we were handing out bread Leon would take a piece make his I found food noise then drop the bread for what ever girls came over he did this every time we gave him a piece of bread such a gentleman.

Mrschickendad: The photo of Ceily and baby is absolutely adorable. Also, count me in on a shirt (or2). Also, did you see the photos of Tyson and Sara? I have been letting them run around the yard and they are loving it. Tyson was getting to rambuctious and kinda aggressive with Sara. He seems to be feeling much better today that he was able to really stretch his wings. they are doing really well. In fact I need to go out and lock everyone up for the evening. Again, the photo is adorable.
