The African and Chinese goose thread!!

They look like the geese I have ...Africans is what I was told. I had heard they can be rather unpleasant. I have pinned my gander several times just to remind him who is top goose in this flock.
He will raise his head & honk but has never offered to come at me. They all as a chorus tend to honk & talk a lot.. Good luck ...or good eating whichever seems most prudent to you.

I am posting a pic of my geese for you to compare... the middle goose /gander? in your series of pics looks just like my gander.

HERE is moose buck and doe new addition to our family
Beautiful babies, Congrats and

beautiful birds! They do look alike so mine must be African Toulouse(?). He and I had an 'understanding' and tonight was much better. Funny though, the night he got so awful upset with me was the night I wore tennis shoes in his pen and the other nights he just honks I had on flip flops. Maybe he is upset about the shoes?

Isn't funny how something like shoes can throw them into a tizzy. I wear boots most of the time when out with the flock. If I came out in flip flops my toes would be eaten off. They do notice things like that though.

I usually wear tennis shoes when working around my flock. But occasionally, the mornings I am running late letting everyone out, I am in flip flops. The first few times the geese attacked my toes, now they ignore them for the most part. I get an occasional nibble on the shoes, but my toes are left alone. I think just getting them used to new shoes is key, let them investigate as long as they don't hurt you. I can walk out in the middle of the day in flip flops and the geese are OK, they do check out my foot wear, but don't attack. Now when my daughter graduated high school she came over In bright, sparkly heels and a dress, both of which my geese had never seen before, and they went nuts attacking her. When I came out in black heals and flowing slacks to put them up to attend her graduation, they were not as bad, but still didn't like my flowing pants. The matte black heels i wore did not get as much attention as my pants, every timea breeze hit my pants and they moved, the geese attacked. I also have a pair of shoes with shiny reflective decorations on them, as well as neon colors. The geese have never accepted this pair of shoes no matter what. So getting them used to it may help, but I think that bright, shiny or sparkly shoes are a no no, they just drawn the eye to much for a goose to resist.

Or they all need sun glasses for all the sparkly stuff.
