The African and Chinese goose thread!!

Pics

The resting geese: from front left to right: Sissy, Percy and Fred. In Back, Left to right. Ron, Sweet Pea and George. Yeah, we named a lot of the flock after the Weasley Family from Harry Potter. Not that we know what sex any of them are, of course. Fred was the one we found backside up about a month ago. He's a bit unsteady on his feet still, but keeps up with the flock.

A couple of geese and one 'Daddy Goose" - Dave. I figured you got to see Mama Goose, see Daddy Goose. This is Percy, George and Sissy chomping on Dave's hair and beard. These geese are um.... 7 weeks old. We hatched George, Fred and Sissy from eggs. The rest came from Ideal.

Heres a recent vid of my guys and gals
Wow Panda, your gander's knob is so big! How old is he?

Thanks! They are African, although we have one goose, Buddy is either an African/Toulouse cross or a straight Toulouse. We're not sure but he's different. He was one we got as a chick from Ideal. They are all have different personalities. It's amazing how fast they grow.

I have two brown Chinese geese named Hot Head and Big Guy! The story behind Hot Head's name is that when she was maybe 2 weeks old, they thought that their heat lamp was very interesting! You can probably see where this is going but they managed to break it and Hot Head had a bald spot on her head!

They were all ok though.

I have a question, though. It's probably pretty stupid, but can geese see colors? 'Cuz Big Guy attacks my mother when she wears bright yellow! Other whys he's fine.

I think they can see some sort of color as my big boy has to nibble at my necklace as its shiny.

Thats kinda funny, how he nibbles on your necklace! But yeah he's very sweet unless you wear yellow! I'll post some pictures of them soon.

Someone had asked that I post pics of my chinese and africans goslings for comparison. Here is a close up, kind of. The left is the chinese who is about 11 weeks old and one of the africans that is 1 week younger. The african is about the same size as the chinese, maybe a bit bigger but the knob is already growing on the chinese.
