The African and Chinese goose thread!!

I've been out of town for a few days and just came home last night. When I went to check on my birds, everything seemed fine. My gander looked like he was covered in mud. This morning, turns out the mud is blood. His breast, sides, and beak are covered in blood. Even his coop has blood all over it. Some of it is fresh but I can't tell where he's bleeding. He ate/drank some, but he keeps taking naps. Normally he's a talker and aggressive, but he's quiet yet still pretty alert. Any suggestions? I'm worried

He needs a bath to clean him up so you can find his wounds .

For a while now,a couple of my chickens have had what I think is gleet. They don't all lay everyday either. I clean their coops when needed and give fresh water but they still have it. I have 5 birds, the two white ones have gleet and the other 3 red have patchy feathers. But none have both. I've washed their rears with dawn soap like suggested,it improved maybe a week. I'm confused on what to do. They all act healthy and happy though.

Get apple cider vinegar, add a tablespoon per gallon of their water. Also feeding them yogurt will help, they need to replace good gut flora in their systems.

@Stormy Cashmere and anyone else for that matter, please feel welcome to join our Indiana thread. Its open to anyone, we have members from all over the country. Its also open discussion, as long as the topics are "kid safe" as we have several young adults as members. We are an active group, with several "old timers" happy to answer questions. I know many of the folks as personal friends now, and have probably met some of my closest friends on BYC.We discuss everything from Quail to Emu, and also several types of livestock. Very rarely does a question go unanswered!

Hello! So I have a broody goose on my hands which is fine. But she has been laying on her nest off and on (1week on maybe 1 day off) the problem is the day she gets off we walk over to her nest and there is no eggs there! My question is where are her eggs? I mean she would of had to lay atleast one egg over a 3 month span right? Btw she is 2 years old

When they go broody, they stop laying normally. Some geese will go broody without a single egg! If there is a rock in the nest, she may try to hatch it. Or fake eggs also. I just recently had 2 embden broody and found 1 large rock buried in that nest. Ugh. My geese have already stopped laying for the season.
