The African and Chinese goose thread!!

Genetics play a role of course but if you hand raise them and get the Kids involved, they should grow up very friendly. We have two males, Sunshine (African) and Lollipop (chinese). Lollipop is a social butterfly, always has to be in the middle of everything, loves everyone, especially those with treats, and has quite the shoe fetish lol

My brother in law was visiting with his kids and my niece was enjoying giving Lollipop treats

If the kids leave the door open, they will invade the screen porch to try to get to us. Most of the time, they stand on the front steps and stare in the window at us lol

Omgosh I love that! They're very beautiful birds. Thanks so much for your reply - it gives me hope haha!

I'm sorry if this is isn't the appropriate place to ask but I'm thinking of selling my geese for a number of reasons. I jave no idea how to price them, I can't find any of this breeed or age for sale on Craigslist in my state. They're two years old, a goose and gander, from Metzers. They're friendly enough. Can anyone give me a ballpark idea of what to ask for the pair?

will start with my two favorites.. I know, I know (Angel wing is his actual name and I have tried everything to correct it over the last 17 years for him) My original Africans I love him for still being with us today.

Second favorite there was a huge clutch of eggs I mean huge... The matriarch goose that had been on them from the start gave up and left them and I was deciding to get the eggs cleared out. A low level goose ( that would never be allowed to sit on fertile eggs) decided to take over the nest and even though I felt the nest was not good and not going to hatch. I didn't want to take her moment away from her and let her stay.. This is what happen and she was so proud for her moment.. My heat just busted for her ...

then just random pictures over the years of enjoying them being with us..

Normally people come to me when they have lost one of their pair and would like to replace an opposite sex companion. I would give them a bird for free because of their loss , but it seems $20.00 is what feels for them to be fair.

If I knew someone personally I'd just give them to a good home. But around here very young mixed breed geese go for 20 or 30 a piece. It's my experience with Craigslist that setting poultry prices a little on the high side weeds out a lot of the wierdos/impulse buyers/ want to feed then to dogs people etc.
