I love the Pied african in the back in the last photo.
Thanks for liking my pics!
8geese, I have thought of you before when looking at my pied Africans. The one in the back is a yearling goose. I think her markings are pretty cool, too.![]()
I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your goose, I cannot imagine having them and not getting attached, What kind of preds do ya'll have? and could it have been a 2 legged pred?I lost a goose, she just didn't show up for lock down. The other geese were calling for her to no avail. It was dusk and I walked around and could find no sign of her.![]()
I let the Muscovies and geese forage on 2 fenced acres for a few hours each day. This was a larger 6 month old African goose. All the others were fine and accounted for. I have no idea what happened to her. The ducks are smaller and younger and 4 of the younger geese are smaller.
Strangely, the remaining 2 larger geese have taken up guard duty and sound an alarm at whatever they perceive as danger and they have finally accepted the younger geese into their flock.
My husband says I should not have gotten emotionally attached to the geese, but DARN! They are special.
