Small update on my buff and brown african gosling's ;)

Re: Angel Wing.

In case anyone needs to know how to wrap a goose. I saw the post about how to wrap a smaller duck, but thought I'd share this experience for anyone who needs it.

So here is Elsa (I know, let it go
lol.png
) she is a little over 6 weeks old. The right side was showing an impressive angel wing, so we brought her in and wrapped it with vet wrap.

I used two bits of 2" wide vet wrap. The first one was about 24" long with about 10" sliced horizontally so it had the ability to split the last 1/2 around the wing itself. Starting with the thick portion of the vet wrap, I tucked in the wing and folded the vet wrap over the tucked in wing tip and then used the two thinner strips to hold it down. One strip was under the armpit, the other over the shoulder part.

The 2nd bit of vet wrap was not sliced but kept in it's 2" width. The length was about 3' long. I started wrapping under the other wing, around the wrapped wing, under the belly and ending under the other wing. She didn't seem to mind it as much as I thought she would. I used hunter green vet wrap so it doesn't attract predators. Our flock is free-range.

Thank you, yes! He is recovering so well. He is missing being home, and missing Mom terribly. they celebrated 56th anniversary the 25th and the staff was very gracious setting up a nice candelight dinner in Dads room. His Dr said another month and maybe, he can come home. The stinker is scooting all over the ward in his wheelchair now!
I have a tiny embden 2 weeks, and and 2 brown chinese the same age. (last hatch this year) I will ask the staff tomorrow if we can arrange a visit with grampa! I know he will want to see the brown goslings, they are always his favorite

I have only had one so far, thankfully. You have wrapped your baby very well! Hope her wing settles properly.
You may have to rewrap but normally once it falls off they are fine.

Hi clmschke glad to see an update on one of Molly's kids that hatched this year. I am assuming if the terrible highway didn't get the other two that they are also named after Frozen characters. Is big brother Albus and sister Adele still being body guards and driving y'all crazy ?
Also how is Percy, has he finally been knocked from being head gander or is he still giving his sons a run for their money ?
Also on a final question, since you have 11 ganders I was wondering do you have any problems with them mating with your peking ducks during mating season ?
