Whole corn is good for that. most of us that feed it use it as a treat or supplement to their diet, but with winter coming on I'd give him as much as he'll eat as long as he is eating his water fowl feed and grazing too. and buy a good poultry vitamin and put into his water. Glad to hear he is doing well. My flock love whole corn.

I have a pair of white Chinese geese that are between 5 and 6 months old. I was shocked to discover that my goose is laying eggs; she has a nest with 4 eggs in it currently. I thought they only laid in the spring. Is this unusual for geese? I assume they are not fertile. She won't try to hatch them out at that age will she?

WOW! Have you seen any mating? I guess I should ask first, do you have a gander also. I assume you do, since mentioned a pair. My chinese hens collect 6-7 eggs and go broody. They also steal other hens eggs, LOL if they can get away with it. I have seen mating still going on with the embden, but not my chinese. If she is laying, she may very well go broody. If she does, candle at around 7 days, and you will know

Chinese are excellent mothers. She will likely do very well raising them. Normally the hens mature around 8 months.

This is our first experience with geese. I do have a gander that is the same age. I have NOT seen any mating, so we were really shocked to see her making a nest. I also have turkeys that hatched in February, and we just found one of them brooding on a nest of 16 eggs! We knew the turkey was laying because we had seen some mating going on. But I don't know what is going on around here. We weren't expecting any of this until spring!
