After a month of constant rain and storm Frank yesterday and a few other storms Ireland is officially under water

My stream over flowed my geese didn't mind though they were delighted to have a dry day for once with no rain :,)

serv I just love the buff color they both look great so does developing the dewlap mean they are considered mature? I know age wise they would probably say adult but does the dewlap mean anything?
Looks like a lake. I bet your geese were happy to have a day with out rain, continual rain can get old fast.
That would be interesting.I want to know more about the dewlap of geese but I only get very little information on it.
I still wonder why some Africans grow dewlaps at 6 months and others at 16-18 months?
Mine all grow theirs 18 months after hatch but you never know if next breeding season I'll get one that grows one earlier than 18 months![]()
The older the goose the more ragged and sluggish it will look.
We had severe temps last year and all my guys did fine. As long as he has the bedding and no drafts He should do fine. Extra corn will help him too. My geese beg for corn in the winter months, I give it to them in addition to flock raiser. helps maintain their fatty layer to stay warm. Now it is starting to get cold where I live and for the past 3 years we've gotten 1 and 1/2 feet of snow overnight sometimes at the end of January. I've prepared my chicken's coop and my gander's box,but I'm worried it's not enough for him. I always make sure he has a lot of clean and dry bedding, and I've blocked out any drafts. Will he be ok when the temperature is 0-20 degrees?
With the temps we had the last 2 days down in lower teens mine have gotten whole corn in the morning and late afternoon before bed along with their reg feed. They love corn better than meal worms. We had severe temps last year and all my guys did fine. As long as he has the bedding and no drafts He should do fine. Extra corn will help him too.
