Breeding season is where the pecking order changes ;)

Quote: Mine don't, yet at least but they have a very large yard to get away. My chinese still free range, I only pen my Buff and Embden during breeding season. The strength of those wings is pretty impressive. I have been flogged breaking up fights when a hen is underneath it all. Its best to only keep one gander until you are ready to handle the dominant fights. I do not intervene unless an innocent hen gets stuck in the middle of it all. Here, its usually because of a less dominant gander trying to breed with a hen. She winds up under or in the middle of the fight. I have had my glasses broke and bruises from it lol. Those wings are strong and can really cause some damage. Goose hens will fight too, but not nearly like the Ganders.

When I used to have all my embdens toulouse and poms they all used to fight too and the strength those geese have when they fight! I would think my poor Chinese ganders would never be able to win fights against those wings but would you believe it they still fought and won

Then I got 9 African geese who immediately took over my 100 geese within a week probably because my geese never seen so many big intimidating brown geese and there was 6 ganders and 3 females so those guys were used to fighting.
Geese can be so funny :D

So buff and Embdens have stronger wings? I'm definitely not getting another gander, he is mean enough to my ducks already.

Just my gander. He is really mean to the drakes, and he wants to breed the hens. He even killed one of the hens trying to breed her.

Wait, actually Elizabeth gets mad at the ducks when they are by her nest, so they really both are.
