The All Night Diners

Okay, so if anyone doesn’t know, my dog is gone. He wasn’t that old (early sixties or so according to the dog chart), but he had lots of issues at the end.
Dealing with this is hard for anyone, but I’m totally alone here. Husband abandoned us (it was his dog!), and I don’t have my own children. Duckling isn’t here all the time anymore, and despite my jumbo family, they have their own lives.
No friends anymore (husband scared them off). So here I am, alone and wondering how it got this way. Of course that has many deep answers not appropriate to delve into here.
I literally keep forgetting the dog is gone in rapid fire. As I’m reprimanding myself for forgetting, I forget again, and then again. Apparently I’ve stopped listening to myself. :D
No, I’m not getting another pet. It isn’t the best thing this time.
Because my mind is wandering at this late hour, I’m wondering how it’s been twenty years (on Friday) since my first fiancé passed away. I’m telling ya! I’ve had a crazy life!
Anyway, I’m in the recliner tonight. Hopefully it will make me feel secure enough to get some sleep. :fl Tomorrow I hope to work on the run, and not look for the dog a million times.
So sorry you lost the dog. Sometimes i feel like the spirits of some of my favorite pets are with me. I see something out of the corner of my eye, but when i look...nothing is there.

It seems that people think I’m being too down. I apologize for that. I really don’t know how to say things differently so that people don’t think that I’m just moping around.
It is natural to feel down when a pet dies. Give yourself time.

I'm sorry you lost the dog, even if you didn't really like him.
I sort of inherited an old donkey when the old farmer that I kept my horses with died. The donkey had been a part of the village since I was a child and everyone loved Benny the donkey, but he was not the easiest animal to look after and that was my role. I had already been looking after him for many years before the farmer died and there was never any doubt I would continue to do so but it could be so awkward! He was 51 (proper human) years old when he took ill. It cost me a fortune in vets bills but after a couple of days I had to make the decision to have him put to sleep as he stopped eating and drinking...... I cried for a week!!......so whilst I didn't really like him, I clearly must have loved him! Interestingly I have fonder memories now 10 years later than I did when he was alive. The whole village mourned with me! I doubt so many people will mark my passing with such tears..... life is strange!

Anyway, I'm not being a night owl here at the moment because it is mid afternoon, so I had better get out there and get some work done!
Hope tomorrow brings better things for you.

It's funny...... if I had a choice of deserts, I would never actively choose a lemon one.....I'm a woman after all and chocolate should always be my first choice!!!..... unless of course it is milk chocolate combined with mint, which is a disgusting union of flavours..... dark chocolate and mint in a whole different matter.....

Anyway, I would not ever choose a lemon desert. If I am given one without choice I will usually really enjoy it, but despite that happening time and time again, I still seem to subconsciously shun anything lemon flavoured.

I am guessing that might start an interesting debate on the merits or otherwise of combining mint and chocolate....

The saying is actually 'when life gives you lemons, make lemonade'. But I know you like ice cream so modified! :D The best lemon ice cream is sorbet, its more ice than cream. Its really refreshing on a hot day! Mint choc chip is a great combi of odd flavours. I especially like the after eight ice cream. But I've gotta be quick or I'm left scraping an empty tub! How about salted caramel for an odd combi?!

I developed an allergy to chocolate in my teens. The first thing that made me sick was Jr. Mints. So just the thought of mint chocolate instantly makes my stomach hurt!
The allergy didn’t last, and about ten years later I was able to eat chocolate again. Though I do seem to still have an intolerance to it (an intolerance is when you simply have to go to the bathroom. No hives or anything) if I eat more than a few ounces in a week. So I don’t usually have chocolate around, and don’t choose it all the time.
As a small child, I didn’t even like chocolate. :hide Funny, huh?

Yes, I figured you were thinking about my homemade ice cream.
:drool Salted caramel.
