Yes it was one of the videos from the link you provided. it seemed the amount of red combs was a very small % compaired to what we have here. Plus the number of bird they produce was huge!!

Yep red combs % are smaller on those Chinese mountain silkie, I can't read Chinese at all, so I don't know the origins of those mountain silkie chickens. Though they might have some Indonesian Cemani blood in them somewhere along the way, who knows. They mass produce those mountain silkie for the demand of black meat birds for their medicinal purpose/property and use. Black chicken meat even taste different from the regular chickens we have here(both broiler and dual purpose). These are also different from the other FM breed of Chinese chickens that lay blue eggs. These lay a beige/cream colored egg like that of cemani.

It would be nice to have some of these birds here. Some one should import some when the ban is lifted, when ever that is. The other interesting FM breed(Kadaknath) from India would be cool to own as well. Though they would be a fortune to own, just like the cemani are, but i'm sure it will eventually drop in the coming years after it was first imported just like any other imported chicken breeds.

Kadaknath

Is it one of your hybirds/cross breeds? I just think all FM breeds or cross breeds/hybrids are unique even silkie and silkie crosses.

Here is a link to more info about Kadanath

No, I don't have any hybrids/crosses at all.
The right breeding just happened to produce these birds by chance in a line of Cemani. It was a one time thing, and I haven't been able to produce many of them. I have since given most of them away to a person who wants to seriously work on the project.

Cool, I guess even if yours were UK import? birds that have been some what bred to their standards, light skin and color feathers birds are bound to be produce in some breeding generations. Would have loved to see those pics, but you said you gave them away

Yep, I don't have any pics. But if they ever crop up again I'll post some.
I believe it was a cross in two unrelated bloodlines that produced the sports

Make sense when crossing two lines, one line may have at some point thrown a color feather bird or very light colored feather and was used by accident in breeding. Then don't show up in the first several breeding, but will eventual. BTW I like your site and love your birds, they are gorgeous.

Thank You :)

I found a Snake hanging out in my outdoor brewder this morning!

He had eaten on of my 3 week old chicks!

The chick was a 3 week old phesant silkie bantam that we had "learning hatched"
and actually kept special to add to our Bantam vanity collection.

The snake was a black snake who was waiting around long enough to digest at bit more,
so he could eat another one of my Copper Black Maran Chicks!

I dragged him by the neck out of the rafters with my Blacksmith Tongs
and whacked off his head with a small wood hatchet...

Bye bye Mr. Snake!

So, to keep me from doing it again.... which I will... Happily!

Do you guys have any information to ward off the next snake,
before he makes the mistake of comiting the captal offense of attacking my pretty birds....
