The American Cemani Breeders Club...open forum

Doesn't seem to matter where you look, there are scams for the Cemani's. This is a rarebreed auction, for 2 proven "hens" and they state this means that the "hens" have produced many chicks to be proven..... then in the same ad, it shows a bunch of chicks....babies....and it says those are the ones you will get.

AND, does the location sound familiar?? This is the scammer on ebay selling hatching eggs too. Wow, he just doesn't quit.

That guy is such a joke...not to mention you soon will be able to get his "line" for the price of shipping the eggs.

I've been reading this thread, non stop, every time there is a new post. I love the information on here, the experiences, and the lessons. I'm trying to get a breeding program going. Our first clutch hatched a single chick. 2 of the others should've hatched, but our humidity gauge failed, and we didn't realize the drop.. so they died. Our second clutch is doing very well. 6 out of 6 eggs are developing, which is unheard of for eggs being shipped so far (from what I've read from many forums). However, since I really and truly want to breed, I need another bloodline. I'm afraid that the second clutch may not all be breeding material, but some may be. We're looking to get 6 chicks from GFF, and we've already been contacting them about it for about a month. So I guess I am looking for another breeder, willing to sell chicks (no more eggs!!) so that we can get two different blood lines going.

Before anyone grills me, as it's been done before... No, this is not my "get rich quick" scheme. Yes, I do care about the quality of birds. I have no plans on selling any eggs, ever. I have no plans to sell chicks until I, myself, have too many to handle.

I'd also like to know what other breeds you're raising. I want to start another section for breeding. I have a passion for things that aren't very common. If we help a breed to survive by doing a breeding program, that would make me especially happy. So.... anyone raising other "rare" breeds?

Thanks for anything and everything that ya'll offer up!

i often have all but a couple shipped eggs start and do very well...until sometime in week 2...not sure which day but between day 8-14 about 30% seem to quit on me.

Svart Hona aka Black Swedish Flower Hens are a good breed if you like the melangistic. If you wan a pretty pop of color Swedish Flower Hens are nice, and i am very fond of Orust...something about the speckled leggs. Anyhow those are a few rare breeds...im sure others will have many more to add.

they told me thru email...that the birds were moved to singapore for 90 days which apparently thats all they need to be residents so to speak and they have the importation paperwork and it supposedly says singapore...my guess is that they had the bird 2010 or maybe earlier then that based on our conversations...i asked for paperwork confirmation....and i have yet to get a response with proof of documentation...they did reply to me that they had a pen of there own stock, toni stock and smithies stock...my response was in no way shape or form would i want the smithies stock...and they have not gotten back to my request...it has been two days with no response...im not going to point fingers so to speak...just waiting for the document that is the proof...you know what i mean....also with these birds...do people notice as the birds get older a slight red comes thru on the wattles and combs....even looking at gff pics...some of there birds look to have a redish tint to them...is that what people should expect...is it the lighting ...i know lighting can make things look different...you can take two pics right after one another and depending on the lighting...they can look totally different...

Singapore is still in Asia and as from what I know any country in Asia, has the bird flu ban. A Fm bird that is nicely dark up to 6 months, then at 1 year may still be the same darkness. But pass that, they tend to kinda lighten up some, just like clothes, they tend to fade to some degree, but not saying that they will be a normal red wattles and comb bird by age 5 or so to speak................

still waiting on the import papers for the proof but the person is beating around the bush....so to speak....they will sell day old.....pairs...they call there line the indo/smith or the indo/gff pair.....they are glaiming they have there own indo bird imported...the birds they have are indeed all black...even when they are day olds..feet mouth and everything...but no proof no buy...thats how i work with these expensive birds...if there is no way to track them...then there is no proof on where the bird came from. in my eyes if i have an expensive bird i want to be able to file its own pedigree on where the birds came from and so on...not to mention if and when the department of agriculture stops by a house and you have these rare birds that only comes from certain states....and you have no way of proving thru paperwork that the birds are clean and where they came from...they will "depopulate your flock" as the import/export guy in michigan put it...most people that buy these birds im finding out really dont care for the paperwork. its like buying a Lamborghini and not getting the title for it.....just imagine buying that Lamborghini and then the police show up at your house and confiscate the car because you have no way of proving you bought the car...i wouldnt take the chance on buying these birds if papers didnt follow....gff is sending me these birds along with 6 honas....with the form vs9-3 after the npip guy comes out and renews their certification in march...which says the birds are infact in clean health...its almost like your own insurance for the birds in case you have unwanted visitors..

Take a guess what this chick is
