The American Paint Silkie

probably shouldn't post here as this is for paint silkies, but from Catdance b/s eggs came a orange frosted bird. He/She? looked light blue as a chick, but had tan stripes running down its back. The color in the photos is off, but it is a lovely orange frosting over a blue tint.

LOve LOVE LOVE Karen's stock!

Here is a picture of three of my paints - the white and black, the white and blue, and the white and red:

The red speckled paint also has some larger black spots.

He is also starting to get some red frosting in his crest but also has some black feathers in there, so I guess he is a tri-color paint. Hey, if those dark spots were blue he would be a patriotic silkie - red, white and blue! Ha! Ha! I have to post this in the silkies of a different color thread!

I reread through this entire thread for I think the 5th time - and based on that info I am calling him a he. He is a very girly boy right now though!

He is very, very fluffy when he isn't dirty and his crest is pretty waxy right now too. I think he is really cute (but I'm partial).

I agree! Just adorable! Be interesting to see if its a boy does look like a girl, except for that beak looks like a boy beak. Either way gorgeous!

What would you consider a good starter combo for paint breeding? Going to start later this spring and decided that paint will be one of the colors. On a small scale, what would you suggest? 2 Paints, 1 Black, 1 White?? Or something else? Do I need the white? Or would you go with 2 paint hens, 1 paint roo, & 1 black roo?
