The American Paint Silkie

I ll try to get one of her this weekend and post it. By the time I get home after work its dark and since the only camera I have is phone I need daylight. Any certain shots that would help the most?

My youngest paint baby is starting to show some red spots all over the body. Didn't you guys say the ones with the red spots were male? And does this color stay red? I know I read something about it, was it you Sonoran? I really thought this baby was a pullet until I saw this red coming in.

Not so visible in the sun, but these are all pictures of the same chick.

Some paints are colored different than white and black.

Yes, I know. I have black and white and blue and white, and now red and white. I was trying to find out if the red and white denotes male. I believe I read that buried in this thread and was hoping the people that posted that information could confirm or not.

I wouldn't think so, I believe I remember seeing female red and white paints.

In this thread you saw female red and whites? I guess I need to go back through it again then. I think I have read every page in this thread about three times, on to number four!

I don't believe they are sexable by color. red is a leaky color and you can have it in males or females. it might be more pronounced in the males as they get older on the shoulders but by that time you should already know male or female.
I'm noticing a trend in my paint silkies, any that have this orange frosting are roos, I've not gotten one girl this color.
Hoppy I'm going through this thread again page by page and this was from July 2012 (page 131) - is this trend still true a year and a half later?

(it was a reply comment to DWegg's picture of an orange frosted CatDance chick from marked paint egg.)

A lot of the pictures are not viewable any longer - but I have found a few that are (starting from page 1). So far I have not found any with the red/orange paint spots (entire feather shaft - not just frosted) being female. Most don't have follow up pictures, and many were sold when they were positive they were roosters not fitting into the black and white paint breeding.

Early on in the thread dated 1/30/11 on page 23, Three Cedars Silkies posted a red spotted baby bred by Judy Lee that looks a lot like mine, but did not have a follow up picture or any comment about sex. I'll find it and post it here.
Thought some of you may be interested in this paint bred by Judy Lee. It is a red paint and she would love to breed more of them...but who knows exactly how??
