The American Paint Silkie

Pics
I love seeing these beautiful birds!! Could someone please tell me what the difference is between an paint and a splash? I am new to chicken genetics and still learning what all the colors and markings are called. I'm hoping to find a thread that isn't breed specific but is just about the different color combinations.

I'm sorry if my questions seem silly or if they have been answered elsewhere... I'm new here and there is soooo much information! I'm slowly but surely reading as much as I can!

Thanks, Tim. I will try to get some new photos of him. When you look at him, you see almost no white except in the undercolour. Almost his whole body is covered with a champagne frosting. Hue is VERY similar to the isabel in my avatar, but I no longer have her, so am relying on memory, not comparison. I am quite sure that she was lav/lav and he is Lav+/Lav+. I have two more champagne paints from a different breeder. The pullet is similar in colour to Chocolate Man (the one in my photos); the cockerel also shows some autosomal red on his wings--otherwise his colouring is similar.

Chocolate Man has been paired with black, white, khaki & dun. The khaki & dun are crosses. I have one paint silkie chick and three paint cross chicks; all display black spots on a white background. With the arrival of the new pair, I added her to Chocolate Man's pen and moved the khaki & dun to the new cockerel's. So I should add a partridge to Chocolate Man's pen? I will try that, although if I can find a spare pen, maybe I should rotate him to between his own pen and one with just partridge girls.

Do you have a pic of chocolate man as a tiny chick? I hatched a chick that makes me think it will look like your choco man when it gets bigger. It is a different color than any of the other paint chicks I have hatched. Kinda has a taffy color stripe down the back.

No, I acquired him from Deb last December; he was already grown.
