"The Perfect Dog"
The Perfect Dog is not Perfectly obedient.
It is not perfectly handsome, perfectly cute or beautiful, perfectly healthy, or the perfect shape or size or weight. The perfect dog is not the dog that never barks, never has an accident or never steals from the trash. A perfect dog does not do everything asked of it or never make mistakes or messes in the house. The perfect dog may not like all strangers, may be fearful of other dogs, may pull on the leash or not come when called, may try to chase your neighbors cat, or jump the fence.
That's because the Perfect Dog is not the dog that perfectly fits into a household, it's the dog that perfectly fits into your heart.
: )
Don't give up on your dog because of behavior problems. Most of the Owner Surrenders come in this way at shelters, and so often they are only a year or so of age. They have not had the time to learn, a patient owner to teach them, or a chance to get past their terrible "teens".
You don't need to adopt to save the life of a shelter dog; just don't give up on yours.
