All chicks should have single combs.I have a Silver Laced Wyandotte (single comb) rooster. I would like to know what happens when I cross him with my hens:
Speckled Sussex
Blue Rock
Black Australorp
Cuckoo Maran
Sapphire Gem
With Speckled Sussex, the chicks should have some pattern of silver and black. The black will probably not be proper lacing, but may look sort-of like lacing. The silver may be yellowish rather than being a nice clean white, and males may develop some red areas as they grow up.
With Blue Rock, I think it's a hybrid, and I don't know all of the genes involved. I would expect black chicks and blue chicks in equal numbers. Either gender may show silver leakage as they grow up, and there's a chance of some red leakage too. This might apply to all the chicks, or it might apply to only half the chicks, depending on how that hybrid is produced. If only half the chicks are black or blue, the other half will probably look like the chicks from the Speckled Sussex (but with some having blue patterning rather than black patterning.)
With Black Australorp, I expect all chicks to be black. They may show some silver leakage as they grow up.
With Cuckoo Maran, chicks will be sexlinks. The males will be black with white barring (yellow headspot as chicks.) The females will be black with no barrng (no headspot as chicks.) Either gender may also show silver leakage as they grow up. The males should be only barred/headspot chicks in the entire batch, so you will be able to pick them out early. Unless you track which chicks come from which eggs, you will not actually know which chicks are females from this cross and which chicks are male or female from some of the other crosses.
Sapphire Gem is hybrid, and I expect the chicks to be about the same as from the Blue Rock.
