Chances of those with "Proper" Rose comb being actually R/r+ are quite high.. So use the Single comb one with any of those females...

Chances of the hatchmate of that single comb one being R/r+ is quite high so even if you were left with just those you can breed them and have a good chance of just single comb Wyandottes.

My intent is to cross them with my Australorps and I figured that having single-combed SLWs would save a generation towards the Silver-Laced Australorp(ish) project. :)

It would be great I got more single-combs to choose from in my F1.

You will end up with birds that look very close to Laced Orpingtons

I am raising some Wyandottes now. I have recent photos if you'd like to see them. The cockerel is blue laced silver. He is about 17-18 weeks now and is a big boy. He came from exhibition stock with males 8.5-9 lbs. I also have 3 black laced silver pullets and 1 pullet I'm not sure if she is black or really dark blue. All have rose combs. I know the breeder of the cockerel had at least one single comb hen in her flock. The 3 black laced are hatchery birds. I hope to hatch a few in spring. If you wanted to try I *may* have eggs in spring if all goes well.

Yes, but with the slimmer(?) Australorp type (not 100% sure that I understand type properly yet and don't know the correct vocabularly to describe it -- to my amateur eye the Orpingtons look like a ball of fluffy feathers while Australorps seem more athletic (I may not be making any sense whatsoever)), the tighter Australorp feathers and, I hope, the Australorp heat-hardiness and egg-laying capacity.

I would absolutely love to!

This is the cockerel. All photos taken 7-30-22. So far the lacing on his chest is very nice.

Here are some of the pullets.
The one in front is the one I can't figure out if she is dark blue or black. Her butt fluff is grey/blue.

***If anyone can advise me on the color of this girl I would appreciate it very much. I have more photos of her as well.
