The "Ask Anything" to Nicalandia Thread

Pics
@nicalandia: Muchas gracias, muy agradecido.
Soy de Colombia.

This is the thread to ask anything related to genetics to me. I have Asperger's syndrome. I have poor social skills and can't understand sarcasm so science/numbers/genetics have come very easy to understand.

Ask away.
I have predominately Buff Orpington hens and a couple Buff Brahma hens. I now have a Brahma Orpington mix rooster i really like that is lighter colored and at least half again bigger than his pops. I plan to put all the Orpingtons in with him and leave his progenitor with all the other hens.
My intent is looking for bigger lighter buff colored birds. Any suggestions to required steps? And are there any requirements i need to follow to prevent any inbreeding traits or reverting back to type?
I hope some of that made sense, because i know zero to nothing about the subject.

1. The male is recessive White based on a Extended Black background x Paint which are also based on Extended Black but with a single copy of dominant White. The result will be 50% Paint and 50% Extended Black, all of the will have recessive White in them hidden.

2. Lavender is Recessive based on Extended Black. I will assume the the Buff is a Self Buff and not Buff Columbian... The F1s will be extended black with lots of gold leakage on the breast and lower body. All of them will be split for lavender(Lav+/lav)

Thanks so much! what if the lav is bred to a buff Colombian?

The F1 Rooster is 50% Brahma so he is larger than his Buff Orpington sire. If you cross him with more orpington hens he will sire progeny that will be 75% Buff Orpington so their size will be closer to what Orps are, perhaps just a bit larger.

His sire is actually Brahma. But if i put him with the 5 or 6 largest Orp hens can i eventually start getting bigger buff birds? And how often, if at all should i introduce outside hens or roosters?

Bear with me a minute because i am completely at stage one of my study on this matter. But i have seen in your posts a lot of these designations like this F1. I am assuming from this context F1 is the first of my breeding attempt? In this instance my young rooster.
I also saw some other distinguishing symbols in your posts so...
Is there a dictionary of these somewhere?

Hi :frow

This question is kind of silly, but.

What would a silkie to bantam cochin look like? Im just curious, because i have seen different things everywhere.

There's no good "Chicken Genetics 101" course, but this might be as close as you can come: http://www.edelras.nl/chickengenetics/default.html

This game, only $4.99 on Steam, is a great introduction to basic genetics: https://store.steampowered.com/app/292200/Crazy_Plant_Shop/
