Not sure what is going on here with one of my golden phoenix roosters. But there seams to be baring of some kind in his saddle feathers. Gene based or just something that was caused by other means?

Mine get that too, I think it's just a color thing. I should check my leghorn boy and see if he has it too since he's the same color

I've got the samething with my Mille Fleur D'uccle/OEGB X Silkie cross rooster. Only difference is he's Silver Duckwing, mottled Split, with Autosomal Red.

I'll do the same with my Red JungleFowl.

The Red JungleFowl cockerels don't have the barring.
Both boys.

Thanks, the other one I have didn't seam to have it but I went back and looked at photos and in his red coloring it seems to be there as well. So it just looks like that's how the feathers came in. Just looked weird or like when you get those bars on lavenders.

Hopefully @nicalandia, can tell us whether the striping on the feathers is the result of genetics, or not.

I don't see what else it could be since it's in my males too in that color from the pheonix flock
