The "Ask Anything" to Nicalandia Thread

He was already on the compost pile when I thought to get some pictures and something snagged him this morning. The second back toe just appears almost the same length as the middle front toe.View attachment 3514563View attachment 3514564
And in the second picture, you can see a line where the soft foot skin meets the scales going up to the extra toes.
I have silkies very similar to this. It's actually pretty common.

Just a friendly reminder, it might be problematic from a disease burden standpoint to compost dead birds. Even if it's not accessible to your live birds, other critters can track bacteria and viruses over a big distance. When we have a loss, we either seal up chicks and put them out in the garbage, or for larger birds we dig a deep hole and bury. But according to best practices, apparently one should be burning them. I just don't want to deal with that though :/
It wasn't sick.

Which part is similar? My silkies never have their back toes match their front in length or have foot skin for those toes
The back toes.

How to fix a single comb on a Rosecomb? Have a rose comb Wyandotte rooster and Somme single comb hens
Just breed the rose combed roo, to the hens, rose comb is a dominant trait over single combs.
This will give you offspring that are R/r+, Which are Rose Comb split for single. The recessive single comb gene could be bred out pretty quickly, though it may still crop up from time, to time since it's a recessive.
