After egg yoke, the GLW I only have one of that chick

getting fat.

I had to go away from them for about 3 hrs, when I came back, I noticed the RIR and buffs were more active than the others, I set up a second brooder and put the active birds in one and the less active breed birds in the other, and gave the less active ones more yoke water.

I have just the 2 shrimpy chicks (one is small and one is small because it had an unfinished navel,) not doing as well as everyone else, even the calmer pen is not calm enough, (note: they are still standing eyes open and eating) They just get jostled out of the food dish. I also have 2 food dishes available. I currently have them on a heating pad, the others are in the house, but for these guys I have a heated brooder hut pen that is warm enough in the coop, and a momma hen (bantam OE) ready to go anytime. I have seen some chicks really want a mom, they will even encourage other chicks to feed them. I am hoping the little momma hen will give them more will to keep going.

My photo was an old one of the hen with a chick, I put the chicks in the pen with the mom, and she started to eat right away, the chicks looked like they were into the mom, and started to eat with her, then I saw she got nervous and wanted out, not flapping or anything, but I could tell she may panic if she didn't get her way. So I let her
out, and brought the chicks back to one of the chick pens. I might move out the active chicks again and just keep a small group with them. I think the runt will be fine, the one navel chick even though I have been giving her egg yoke is looking sleepy.:hmm I will still give her yoke water every 1/2 hr.

I did vent checking, for males to female, I found the 5 females I ordered were correct. The over active chicks I put in a separate bin were all males. There was at least 5 that were female from the fry pan bargain. The little yellow chick w/messed up navel area is male.

I was worried about my poor little shrimpy yellow, and was going to go up to feed him, and he was eating by himself, so I didn't want to interrupt. He was talking to another chick while he was eating.
