Adding a Mauve pair, & a Blue pullet to my little bantam flock next week.![]()
My 17 month old Buff Orpington bantams are sure looking pretty, after completing their molt. Need to take some pics of them. My flock has grown back to 24 total. What am I going to do?![]()
Eat a lot of eggs. LOLMy 17 month old Buff Orpington bantams are sure looking pretty, after completing their molt. Need to take some pics of them. My flock has grown back to 24 total. What am I going to do?![]()
My 4 buffs are 17 month old. One went broody for r a short time in the spring. They've just come out of molt , and back to their erratic laying cycle of 0ne, or two, then four. So far they are not showing good signs for broodiness.Has anyone here found their little orps broody? Are they a known broody breed like silkies or cochins?
My Cookie is acting broody AGAIN. (She acted broody back in Oct, molted, took a break, started laying end of Dec, than started acting broody a little over a week ago.)
I decided to get some fertile eggs for her & wanted to know what others have experienced with this breed. (She's my only English Bantam Orpington, & I'm not very familiar with broodies either.)
My daughter is working on a science project & needed a broody hen volunteer, so I hope Cookie cooperates. I'm amazed at how wide she can make herself look when she fluffs up. For now, we gave Cookie some dummy eggs & golf balls to play with until we pick up the fertile ones.
