I have a trio of white bantam orpington. I pick up a pair at a swap here in Ks that were Derek Martins or out of his birds. Came home and got on the internet to see about getting more or getting some eggs to hatch. I could believe my eyes.....
I couldnt find even 1 person on the computer that even had any. I was mad!! I wanted more!! Anyway called the lady I bought them from and she happened to have 1 more pullet. I picked her up a few hrs ago and I now have 3 young birds.
I got her home and put her in their little pen and she went straight over and layed an egg. The lady who had her said she hadn't started laying yet but to my suprise, She layed 1 right in front of me. This means I can start gathering and incubating soon. I'm soooo excited
... I need to go take some pictures but I just had to come brag alittle first.. LoL!

Hi, they are very pretty birds but unfortunately they are NOT orpingtons.
They appear to be White Plymouth Rocks. Orpingtons have white legs and this group has yellow. Plymouth Rocks have yellow legs and single combs. I must say they are very round for rocks, maybe someone crossed some wyandotte into them at some point?? Thank you for sharing though, they are very lovely and I'm sure friendly just the same.
HenThymes is correct. Do any of them have white shanks? Have known of some breeders crossing Buff Orpington Bantams with Buff Wyandotte Bantams for fertility in their Wy. These do seem to have a Wyandotte look to them. They are very pretty, but difficult to tell quality in a photo. I would suggest taking them to a show and allowing a judge to critique them. Ask the judge or a good breeder of Rock bantams to look them over after the show.
Talk to the seller. They really need to know these are NOT Orpingtons. My first trio of Buff Orpington Bantams came with a pair of Buff Rocks. They were a hatchery assortment. I was 18 and took them all ands old the Rocks. Then I acquired some eggs from Brazelton to improve what I had. If you have patience, you could acquire a good White Orpington male and outcross to these hens. Then take those pullets back to the sire. May take 2 or 3 generations, but it is possible. Just cull heavy per the Standard.
Just kidding. Darn it!! I was so excited but I figured it was way to go to be true. .. Their shanks are pretty yellow and their beaks are too. I havnt looked at the skin color yet. I guess I need to get ahold for the fellow they started with. Maybe he will give me more info. I know he shows bantam wyndottes all over and does very well.
Thanks For everyones imput!!

x 2 They are not orpingtons. I love the one on the left, but they are rocks or orpington/rock crosses. Very cute, though.

Im guessing that theyre SC Wyandotte sports, or the yellow legged culls from someone outcrossing to wyandottes.
