The BANTAM ORPINGTON Thread

Thanks, Tammy. Roo #2 kept bothering me, ie, too short. So you're saying he isn't necessarily too short backed but the tail is. Therefore, I assume, you prefer Roo #1. Am I correct? Most of the other roos are longer in the back/tail or more like Roo #1. There are just too many roos and part of them must be go. How long or old do you think they need to be to look like what they will be as adults?
Thanks for the help!

No. They need to have a longer back going up on an angle flowing into the tail seamlessly. Not a flat back then tail

My black Orpington bantam cockerel. BB at the Connersville IN show. Do note that he is really fluffy, I am working on that in my breeding this year.

He makes me want black bantams. I love his type and fluff. When yu say you are working on fluff are you trying to get rid of it or increase?. The fluff on him makes him look regal

Orpington Bantams tend to get too big. We are working to keep ours down in size per the Standard. Here is Nicole at about age 7 and at age 6 with the Buffs. This should give a good comparison on size.
