We have a blue and a splash hen. The male is splash. Could these be black? Almost hope so! Was thinking they are dark. The large one on the bottom is a large fowl "Cecil Moore" line Black Orp. They do all seem the same color. Blue breeding is not my strong point. The B/S Bantams are actually Brenae's. If any hatch black, I will claim them!

New to chickens and have 5 bantam buff orpingtons. They are 5 weeks old and super cute. I will try to post updated pus tomorrow..,

I saw some lavender ors and fell in love so if you know of any bantam lavender ors please let me know...I am in northern ca/ bay area.

Mad, sad, and just sick to heart tonight....

Have a predator who likes blue BO's as much as I do--only he/she eats them. Takes the fresh eggs, the setting hens, and all.

Just pitched every chicken I could find in a dog crate and am praying the little %$#%****!!!! stays out of it for the night.

Anybody got some blues they wanna send to N. California?

Hello All,

I have a Buff Orpington Hen and a Silkie/Bantam Rooster. They are in my pic.

(Unfortunately the eggs are not hacthing, and I am going to buy her some Bantam chicks).

How has everyone's luck been with Bantams and cold winters? I did not heat my coop last winter, just made sure they had a nice thick bed of straw. He did just fine.

I live in Idaho, and we had a pretty cold winter!

Splash to Splash should give you 100% splash, Splash to Blue should give you 50% blue/50% splash. But I am thinking those are extremely dark for blue??? None of mine ever hatch that dark when they are blue, the down color is somewhat lighter and you can actually tell it is blue and not black... I also just hatched some of Dick Horstman's and all were black but one and it is a dark blue but can tell it from black. I guess you will have to wait and see what you actually have, though it may be difficult to tell even till they get older if they are dark dark blue.

Post pics of them in a couple of days when they have really had a chance to dry and fluff.
