Theyre F1 from an English cock over an american. I dont know exactly what the cockbird weighted but theyre typically around 4 lbs. Also theyre only 2 months so they wont be anywhere near their final weight yet.

That would be about 64 oz. The SOP calls for 38 oz in old males. Most of the males at Crossroads were on the larger size. Sometimes it would be nice if the judges went back to weighing the birds.

Yea I stated them as a project bird because I am working on their size. I am getting a scale so I can work on getting the size down on all of the bantams I have

wonder how the legs on some of these over sized roo's hold out over a few years.. wonder if they ever become lame at around 4-5 years..

As for weighing them. We use a digital scale and a small carry tote like we had at Crossroads. These are small totes with holes drilled in them for air. With the empty tote on the scale, zero the scale out. Then place the bird inside the tote. You then weigh the bird while it is inside the tote. We plan on keeping weight records on all of our Orp Bantams. As soon as I can find an inexpensive way to weigh the large fowl, we will do that.

The Buff is from Brazelton lines via Anderson. the Black is from SQ Egg Swap eggs from Majestic Lane Poultry (WV).

Just search this entire thread. All 54 pages. There are no photos of White Orpington bantams. Does anyone on BYC have the Whites?
