The BANTAM ORPINGTON Thread

Pics
We NEVER crack an egg to check fertility. Best method is a few days in an incubator. Then in 21 days you have chicks instead of an omelet. We have already hatched some Orpington Bantams and have shipped several orders of hatching eggs out.

Pullet eggs do make great omelets. But I start hatching eggs after the pullet has layed a week or so. If the bird is extreemly valuable (Rare) I will hatch a pullet egg. i will never ship a pullet egg. Would not want to receive one, so will not ship one.

Off topic: received a nice little gift from the Lemon Cuckoo Orp LF pen today....our first egg. Expecting some eggs soon, so will set it with them, along with anything else we have available.

I have my first chick from my chocolate pen!

Pretty sure that it's just a lack of melanizer that causes some blacks to be born with more yellow down than others. That I am aware of it has no affect of long term coloring and the chicks do feather in a beautiful black like those with less yellow.
